About Us
The Table is a place for worship leaders—and those who shepherd them—to breathe, belong, and be renewed in the work God has given them.
Our Story
Asaph’s Table began with two people who grew up leading worship side by side. Tyler and Leslianne Newberry started serving the Church together at fourteen, unaware that the Lord was already shaping them for a lifetime of ministry marked by music, discipleship, hospitality, and the steady work of shepherding souls.
Over nearly thirty years, Tyler has served as a worship pastor—one who loves Scripture, loves the Church, and loves helping leaders discover depth beyond performance. Leslianne, a musician and educator with a background in vocal performance and years spent mentoring young women, carries a gentleness and discernment that ministers deeply to worship leaders and their families. Together, they have seen the joys and the wounds of worship ministry up close. They’ve walked alongside leaders who were flourishing, and many who were quietly unraveling.
Over time, a simple and sacred conviction grew in them:
Worship leaders need more than resources. They need a table.
A place to talk.
A place to be known.
A place to be strengthened.
A place to heal.
A place to learn to last.
From that conviction, Asaph’s Table was born—a gathering place for worship leaders, pastors, and churches seeking a healthier, more sustainable way of life together.
Why Asaph? Why a Table?
Asaph, one of King David’s worship leaders and the writer of a dozen Psalms, embodied a rare combination of musical skill, pastoral duty, and theological depth. His role was not performance—it was gathering the people before God with honesty, beauty, lament, hope, and truth. What does “Asaph” mean? He who gathers the people.
In every generation, God continues to call men and women to this same work. But today, many worship leaders carry their calling without the support, clarity, or care they need.
The table became our metaphor because it is everything ministry should be but often isn’t – welcoming, unhurried, vulnerable, and rooted in shared life.
At a table…
hard conversations
can happen gently.
Wisdom is passed down.
Pastors & Worship Leaders
can finally talk as partners,
not opponents.
Leaders can remember
why they were called.
So our invitation is simple: Come to the table. Pull up a chair.
Why We Exist
The landscape of worship ministry has changed dramatically, and not always for the better. Across churches of every size and denomination, we see consistent patterns:
- Leaders entering their roles without theological grounding
- Isolation, insecurity, and lack of belonging on the church staff
- Tension or misunderstanding between pastors and worship leaders
- Creative personalities struggling to find their place
- Families feel disconnected from the life of the church
- Emotional exhaustion from weekly visibility and pressure
- Burnout leading to unhealthy rhythms—or leaving ministry altogether
New stats reveal that the average worship leader remains in a position for only 26 months.
Asaph’s Table exists to change that story.
We are here to help worship leaders experience the long, slow work of spiritual formation, biblical grounding, emotional health, and sustainable rhythms of ministry. We are here to help pastors build healthier, more trusting partnerships with their worship leaders. And we are here to help churches cultivate worship that grows from deep roots, not shallow expectations.
What We Do
Asaph’s Table is not a program—it is an ecosystem of care, formation, and connection. Our work includes:
Cohorts & Community
Small groups that meet throughout the year for guided conversations, shared learning, and mutual encouragement.
1-on-1 Coaching
Personalized mentoring that addresses spiritual life, leadership, relationships, and ministry challenges.
Training & Theological Formation
Exploring Scripture, worship philosophy, liturgy, and the pastoral identity of worship leaders.
Pastor–Worship Leader Alignment
Facilitating healthier staff relationships, clarifying expectations, and resolving quiet (or not so quiet) tensions.
Church Planting Support
Helping planters craft thoughtful, biblical worship philosophies from the ground up—before values are formed by accident.
Family & Marriage Support
Care for the spouses and families who often feel unseen in ministry life.
Counseling Pathways
Connecting leaders to trusted Christian counselors when deeper care is needed.
Retreats, Gatherings & Rhythms of Rest
Creating spaces where leaders can worship, rest, and reorient around God’s presence.
We are not offering a temporary fix.
We are helping shape a culture where worship leaders can flourish for a lifetime.
The Heart Behind the Table
- We believe worship leaders are shepherds—not entertainers.
- We believe pastors and worship leaders can thrive as partners, not “tollerators.”
- We believe sustained ministry requires deep roots, biblical clarity, and spiritual community.
- We believe no leader should serve alone.
- We believe the future Church needs worship leaders with strong souls, not just strong skills.
- And we believe every church is healthier when its worship leaders are healthy.
This is our heart. This is our calling. This is the work God has established before us.
